Continuum .40 Released Tomorrow! - September 20, 2007 - 6:24 PM by Mackieman

After a lot of testing and input, Continuum .40 is finally ready to be released for the entire community. Sometime on Friday, September 21, the SSC server bank will require .40 to play in all SSC zones. The files and installation instructions will be available here at SSBase as well as other community sites like SubSpaceDownloads.Com and SSCentral.Com.

An upgrade package is not being provided with this release but changes to the installer software have been made so that player profile and password information is backed up and then restored as part of the installation process. Full details and instructions concerning this will be released later tonight. Please use SSForum.Net as a community resource for issues as well as MGB's forum over at the Server Help Site.

UPDATE: The installation instructions are now available for your viewing pleasure. Those of you who are upgrading an existing Continuum installation should read through these carefully and make sure you save your information.

All SSCX Zones Are Online - March 6, 2006 - 11:09 PM by Mackieman

Thanks to PriitK, all the displaced SSCX zones now have hosting on the TW cluster at The Planet in Dallas. To reach the zones, update your zone listing using sscentral.sscuservers.net. Your current SSCX zones should update and show an I next to them in the listing. This means that the IP has updated and the zone will be available in your listing.

SSCX is no more. - March 4, 2006 - 2:02 AM by Mackieman

I never thought I'd be around to see this day. A player from SSCX PowerBall contacted the company where the SSCX servers are hosted and reported the server activity. As a result, SSCX1 has been permanently shutdown and SSCX2 will be next. Quite obviously, this news is devastating to the SubSpace community as SSCX has been the largest and most stalwart host for nearly ten years.

But more than that, there are personal losses as well. In addition to reporting the server, Xalimar's name was mentioned and he is now in danger of losing his job. I am at a loss as to what would posses a player to do this but it is utterly despicable. I wish Xalimar and yarkim the best in whatever comes next and I can speak for thousands of players when I earnestly thank them both for the years of service and free gift to this community.

Happy New Year - January 5, 2006 - 10:28 PM by Mackieman

Welcome to 2006, celebrating ten years of SubSpace addiction. For those of you who have been playing since then, please go outside.

ForumHQ had some DNS issues recently but those have been resolved. Please report any problems you may have with services at ForumHQ.

Thanks. =)

Welcome to SubSpace Base. - July 9, 2005 - 3:01 AM by Mackieman

On behalf of everyone who worked for SubSpaceHQ.Com (read: me), I'd like to welcome you to SubSpace Base. There will probably be some questions about why I created this website and what happened to SSHQ, why Dock spends all of his time talking to a bird, why Swift has pointed shoes, and why Ghost Ship is so old that he was Noah's navigator on the ark. Rest assured, at least two of these questions are about to be answered.

The simple fact is that I do not own the SubSpaceHQ domain and thus cannot affect where it is aimed; the server it points to has pretty much ceased to be. For a while I ran SSHQ on the ForumHQ server at sshq.forumhq.net, but that was never really an ideal situation. With the help of Mom. from EG/SWZ, I decided to create SubSpace Base and move all of SSHQ's operations to it.

SSBase will now pick up where SSHQ left off...with some minor changes. The most notable change will be the shift from a news site to a static information site. While you may see updates from time to time and any important information will be posted, SSBase will remain the same. It will remain as the central download site for the SubSpace/Continuum community, and should remain the first place to find new versions of Continuum, if/when they happen.

So this should work fine for a while. The forums are still there and will say SubSpaceHQ until I bribe Akai with hookers and cheap rum to make me some new graphics. It isn't the Ritz, but it will do. Welcome to SSBase.
